What is StriveCast?

  • StriveCast Overview

    StriveCast is and affordable DIY production solution that aims to provide 90% of professional production quality for 10% of the cost. Our goal is to lower the cost of production and simplify production down to an iPad app.

  • What events we offer?

    StriveCast is a light-weight solution that can be installed permanently at a venue or used in a portable mode. Our platform is ideal for school gyms, outdoor fields, auditoriums, concert venues, churches, or any events sites that you can think of.

  • Who is it for?

    For modern day broadcasters, who are looking to leverage disruptive technology. Increase their coverage and reduce cost of production.

    For venue owners, who are looking for a live streaming production solution to offer to their clients and guests.

Using StriveCast

  • How do I watch a live event?

    Watch events LIVE sitting anywhere in the world. Download the app on your personal device or follow the link provided to you on any device.

  • What sort of quality can I expect?

    HD video with feature rich remote and DIY production tools for broadcasting. You can expect personalized viewing experience with interactive content from anywhere in the world.

  • How do I find the event I am looking for?

    Search by name of the event, venue, school or sport on the app or the portal and you will find the event you are looking for.

  • How do I watch a past event?

    Search by name of the event, venue, school or sport on the app or the portal and you will find the event you are looking for.

  • I am not able to see an event in search results.

    If search returns too many results, try to make search more specific and try filtering results based on type (Teams, Events, Venue, Schools).

  • Do I need internet to watch the event?

    Yes- internet is essential to view a live or recorded event on the app or the portal.

  • Do I need to pay to watch the events?

    These events are available free for viewers whether it’s a live or a recorded event.

  • How do I control access to my content?

    Based on organization setup and request for broadcasting events we have three options available;

    Public : Anyone can view the event on their apps and portal.

    Private : Users who are following a team which is part of the event can access this (for allowing only parents, etc. to view the events)

    Staff : Only staff of that organization can access this event (for allowing coaches or staff to view the events - like a practice session)

  • How do I report quality of the event?

    We love feedback and that is why we provided option on the app and portal to send your responses to support

  • Why do we have to follow a team?

    Following a team gives you option to add events to your calendar and always be up to date about their past and upcoming events.

  • Unable to see recorded event on portal?

    The event will be available only after recording is uploaded to Cloud.

Broadcaster FAQ

  • I can not login with my credentials.

    Make sure you have internet connectivity. Also make sure you have a valid & active Strive account created by your organization admin with Admin or Staff user role.

  • Who all can broadcast the event from your App?

    With StriveCast, absolutely no past experience or skills in streaming an event is required for broadcasting. StriveCast solution is so simple and designed to enable any member with proper permission, broadcast a high quality production with video mixing, graphics, commentary and replays.

  • Do I need Internet to stream?

    Yes- having a strong internet connection is critical to streaming and recording an event.

  • I have started broadcasting my production with YouTube/Wowza, but I cannot see my production live.

    It takes around 2-3 minutes to actually publish the live production you are doing. You will be able to see its actual status on top-right corner of the screen. (i.e. Not Live / Live). If it takes more than 2-3 minutes, you can press Info button on top left corner and see the details. You will need at least 4-6 Mbps of internet bandwidth to publish the stream.

  • If I try to start broadcasting my production with YouTube, it says it is not supported by my organization.

    For broadcasting with YouTube, your organization admin has to configure broadcasting YouTube channel from admin portal.

  • What if there is no broadcaster available to stream the event?

    Your organization can choose to record an “Unattended” event when scheduling, where the camera and the components automatically record the entire footage for the set duration.

  • Who do I contact regarding system error messages or bugs?

    How long until the recording is available?

    It depends on the duration of the Event and Internet upload speed.

Admin FAQ

  • How do I take care of firewall permissions?

    When you sign up we send you a list of sites & domains to be whitelisted if your organization has a restricted network access.

  • What can I do as a School Admin?

    As a school admin you have access to all features and you can schedule events, add teams and players and update your Organization details.

  • How do I engage more viewers on our live stream?

    Share live events with your community to engage students, staff, family & alumni.

    Share events and highlights on social media to get more viewership.

    Broadcasters can announce about the event being live streamed on Strive Apps and portal and request viewers to cheer their teams by posting comments of encouragement, sharing pictures and videos from their phone.

Troubleshooting

  • Not Powering up – Nano Station

    Check all connections

    1. Camera >> To Box (establish a secure connection)

    2. Ethernet >> To Nano Station >>Plugged into the Main

    3. Power Cable>>Box

  • Limited Connectivity

    Make sure there is proper internet connection or internet connection is fluctuating Camera is not within configured wifi connection or we are in some other wifi connection

  • Camera doesn’t appear in the list after scanning

    There can be one of the following reasons:

    1. Make sure the Strive Box is powered up properly and camera is attached to it.

    2. Make sure your iPad device connected to valid Strive box Wifi Network

    3. Check Credentials -If you are a logged in user, make sure the Strive box you are trying to use is register under your organization only.

    4. If you continued as guest (without logging in), try scanning after 30-45 seconds. It may take some time to get the device ready after powering up.

    5. If you know IP address of Strive box, try adding it through "Add Camera" button.

    If problem persists, contact support.

  • Cannot Create Event

    1. Make sure we are not creating an event with overlapping time schedules

    2. There is some issue with CMPro health or network issue.

  • “Device Key Is Invalid”

    1. Make sure you have correct device key which is set by your organization admin for the Strive box you are trying to access

    2. Make sure the device is reachable to internet and is able to sync details with Strive Portal. This is required in case you have recently made some changes to device details from portal admin. (Changes like changed device key, updated venue or hotspot details etc.)

  • Stream Interrupted Message

    You may face this message if camera preview stream is not available from Strive box. You can try reconnecting stream by pressing "Reconnect" button. Possible reasons for such situations are:

    1. Strive box is not powered up

    2. iPad device is connected to different wifi hotspot than Strive box wifi

    3. Camera is not powered up or not connected correctly with Strive box

  • Live/Not Live Fluctuations

    1. Make sure that Strive Box has internet connection with at least 4 mbps internet speed

    2. If internet connection has restricted access, ensure access to youtube.com and wowza.com and port 1935 is enabled.

  • Cannot Go Live

    1. Make sure that Strive Box has internet connection with at least 4 mbps internet speed

    2. If internet connection has restricted access, ensure access to youtube.com and wowza.com and port 1935 is enabled.

  • Cannot select from scheduled drop down

    1. Make sure event is not scheduled as an "Unattended" event

    2. Make sure Strive Box has internet connection.

  • Stream Error

    1. Internet connection is not working properly.

    2. Make sure youtube account is configured as per shared document with all proper settings.

  • Low Bandwidth

    1. This means connectivity between your iPad and Strive box is poor and it is not able to get proper video preview frames in time.

    2. If you think this appears in spite of having proper connectivity, please contact support.

  • Cannot see Live Production

    Wait for 2-3 minutes to actually publish the live production you are doing. You will be able to see its actual status on top-right corner of the screen. (i.e. Not Live / Live). If it takes more than 2-3 minutes, you can press Info button on top left corner and see the details. You will need at least 4-6 Mbps of internet bandwidth to publish 720p stream appropriately.

  • Offline Message prompt even when connected to Wifi

    1. Make sure you are connected to the dedicated venue in Wifi settings.

    2. If you do not have internet connectivity, it will still allow you to do offline production. But in such cases, you will not be able to broadcast your production live on live.strivecast.tv or YouTube.

  • Strive camera appears in the list but it does not show camera preview.

    1. Make sure the Camera is powered up and connected correctly.

  • Unable to stream to YouTube even though the YouTube account is associated with organization.

    1. Check whether live streaming is enabled on YouTube account or not

    2. Login to YouTube with the same account which is connected to Org

    3. Go to top right -> Profile Icon -> Creator Studio

    4. On left side, click on "Live Streaming" menu. In the next page, if you see "Enable Live Streaming" label, it means live streaming is not enabled for this account. Follow the steps to enable the same.

  • Scheduled unattended event is not visible on portal

    Check the following :

    1. Whether unattended recording / streaming is selected for that event

    2. If selected, check whether device is online

  • Unable to see recorded event on portal

    1. The event will be available only after recording is uploaded on Cloud and is available. You can check current upload progress by following these steps :

    2. Go to /admin/event/recording/

    3. Select the recording you want to see progress for and open it

    4. On the bottom of the page, you'll see a header "Recording upload progress"

    5. For a recording, you will see 2 entries when it is completed, for a stream, you'll see 1 entry

    6. The upload progress is mentioned under "Completed pct” header
